Why inflatable hot tub?

So how can one get the best of both worlds? One that has the benefit of the soothing warmth of a hot tub on a cool summer evening or a brisk Autumn night but doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to purchase and keep up with. Welcome to the world of inflatable hot tubs. A beautiful mix of leisure and low-key maintenance, inflatable hot tubs are the best way to have what you want in a hot tub without the worry of its longevity. Many people choose the inflatable hot tub route because they love to have one when camping or to take along in their travels.

As a buyer, you have to be cautious of what you can get for the best price, while also considering the overall quality of the product. I personally would love to have something like this at my house. This would save me from having to worry about finding a place for it, as these are portable and can be stored once the winter weather approaches.

To help ease your search in looking for the best inflatable hot tub out there, I have provided the links, specs and overall reviews from fellow hot tub buyers on the top five inflatable hot tubs on the market.

The Coleman Portable Inflatable Hot Tub

Built to hold up to four people, the Coleman Portable Hot Tub has a digital control pump with a soft touch panel for easy use. Two handles are located on each side so that it can moved and drained without hassle. The padding on the inside is comfortable and makes for a nice setting to enjoy yourself and for others to enjoy themselves as well.

The hot tub itself can hold up to 210 gallons of water and its measurements are 71” x 26” which gives it enough room to seat up to four people (based on size of course).  A wonderful aspect about this hot tub is its low maintenance in that only requires easy to use replacement cartridges for refreshing water perfect for the spa. The Coleman also heats up to 104 degrees, with 60 surrounding air jet pockets that help ease the sore muscles after a long day’s work.

SaluSpa Palm Springs AirJet Inflatable 6-Person Hot Tub

SaluSpa Realtree MAX-5 AirJet 4 Person Portable Inflatable Hot Tub
SaluSpa Realtree MAX-5 AirJet 4 Person Portable Inflatable Hot Tub

A larger and no tools necessary hot tub is what the SaluSpa Palm Springs AirJet is all about.

With a built-in water filtration system and easy to operate panel, this hot tub can help cater to those who want to have bigger groups at their hot tub. This spa holds up to 242 gallons and is around seven feet wide in diameter, which gives people more space to relax in, or can easily hold another person.

This tub is unique because it has a brown, leathery, look. This help accentuates its high-end features and overall presence. I like that that it’s a different color than the normal blues and blacks out there in the market. This one sets itself a part because of its look and appearance.

I enjoy that it is more spacious and that it doesn’t look so small next to the pump. Even if you can’t get another person in the tub with you, at least you have more space to work with little hassle or maintenance required in setting up or tearing down.

Bestway 54155E Hawaii Air Jet Inflatable Outdoor Spa

Bestway 54155E Hawaii Air Jet Inflatable Outdoor Spa
Bestway 54155E Hawaii Air Jet Inflatable Outdoor Spa

The Bestway Air Outdoor Spa is one of the more spacious hot tubs with the ability to seat between 4-6 people.

This durable hot tub is made of tri-tech material, which insures longevity and comfort for its users. One user asked if a cat could claw it easily but got the response that it would probably take the force of an alligator to do some damage. Encapsulated with a total of 114 air jets for high powered massages and relaxation for those sore muscles after a hard day’s work.

The padding at the bottom of the hot tub makes it perfect for seating, and the heat goes all the way to 104 degrees. The Bestway Outdoor Spa is 6 feet by 6 feet in size and can hold up to 210 gallons of water and is roomier in its seating size.

I love that this one has more jets and that it is square shaped as opposed to a circle shape. As someone who has always enjoyed lounging in a hot tub when I can, I think the square shape gives it more of a hot tub feeling and adds more room for those who are sitting in it. This hot tub is low maintenance in its setup (no tools – yay!), and it comes with a safety locked cover as well to help keep it nice and warm when not in use.

Intex Pure Spa 6-Person Inflatable Portable Heated Bubble Hot Tub

This Intex hot tub is around 85” in diameter, which equates to around 7 feet; a larger sized hot tub in comparison to many of the other ones out there.

The Intex Pure Spa hot tub holds around 220 gallons of water and has an easy to use control panel to maintain temperature and pressure that’s perfect for you. This model has 170 high powered bubble jets, making it one of the more high-powered models out there in the inflatable hot tub world.

This hot tub also has its own built-in hard water treatment system which makes the water gentler on the skin and has two easy to replace hot tub filters. An overall easy setup and experience for a hot tub that is not only more powerful, but also easier to manage. The stability of this hot tub is also strong and sturdy. You will not have to worry about anything tearing into it, as the material is made with Fiber-tech technology to insure its powerful durability while in use.

Bestway SaluSpa Miami AirJet Inflatable Hot Tub

Bestway SaluSpa Miami AirJet Inflatable Hot Tub
Bestway SaluSpa Miami AirJet Inflatable Hot Tub

This SaluSpa Miami Inflatable Hot Tub is on the smaller side, only holding around 177 gallons of water and two to four people at maximum.

This hot tub heats up around 104 degrees, and it takes around 24 hours to fully heat up to that temperature. The Miami AirJet Hot Tub has an easy to use control panel, along with a start stop timing-controlled heating system. The actual dimensions of this hot tub are 71” x 26” and has an easy setup for those of us who hate to deal with tools.

This hot tub is also on the smaller side and sits next to a rather bulky pump. For those people who would only need this for themselves or their significant other, then buying a hot tub on the smaller side isn’t a bad option.

The Bestway SaluSpa can cover everything you need in the hot tub checkboxes, except for the capacity to hold a lot of people. If you are okay with that option, then this hot tub may be all you need to get the relaxing experience that you desire.

While this hot tub does seem to please many buyers out there, I feel that it is on the smaller side with a pump that seems quite bulky when sitting beside it. This hot tub seems more like an adult kiddie pool, than an item that could rival a real life hot tub experience.

Qualities that make you say, “Oh yeah!”

Most all inflatable hot tubs are easy to move, drain and easy to take with you. They all seem to have the ability to perform at the level the consumer needs, without the hassle of maintaining it like a normal hot tub.

These hots tubs are also low maintenance in comparison to their counterparts and hold up quite well in the durability department. The low-key setup and overall upkeep is simple, and there isn’t a hassle when having to replace the filters or maintain the water that’s inside.

Finally, the storage and placement of this hot tub is so much better than trying to find a permanent spot for a real one. You don’t have to worry about space and can easily move or adjust it should you find that its location is not perfect. If you need to move the hot hub to make room for something else, that’s no problem. All portable hot tubs can be taken down and placed somewhere else until you want to get it out and use it again.

Too good to be true?

For all inflatable hot tubs, it is not advised to not use in extremely cold temperatures (anything under 40 degrees preferably). So, for all of us who live in areas where winter seems to be a six-month long season, looks like this may be one downfall to buying an inflatable hot tub.

Other people claim that the pressure of the bubbles is on the ‘wimpy’ side rather than the powerful one. Some say that it’s a tight fit for four adults but is more of a fit for two adults and two children instead.

I have also found that many of these hot tubs require many accessories that need to be purchased separately. This could easily increase your cost, but these items are only recommendations, and not something that is necessarily needed to make the hot tubs work. Be cautious of what you want versus what you need in the accessory department.

Each hot tub also requires chemical treatment, just like a normal hub would. While the treatments are not as extensive, it still as imperative to take care of it like any other utility.

Finally, while I wouldn’t list it as a con, a portable hot tub requires placement close to an electrical outlet or to be plugged into an electrical amp for it to be used. Even if it does boast in its portability, you still must have to access to electricity to use it.

To get a summarized view of the pros and cons of an inflatable hot tub, you can check out the table below.

PROSCONS
Easy to use / low maintenanceCannot be used in extremely cold temps
For many consumers, they get the same effect of these hot tubs without feeling like they are missing out on the real thing. Can have wimpy pressure with the bubbles even at the highest setting
Doesn't require a lot of electricity or amps to run oneAccessories can make for an extra cost. Be cautious of what you need vs. what you want
Highly durable / easy to move or transportOn the smaller side - can't fit a big group

Final Thoughts

I have found that each hot tub listed has good reviews, and most consumers are quite happy with the final product. It’s really about what you want and what you feel is best for your home.

I think the whole idea of a portable hot tub is not only a great one, but also a practical one. For those of who want the effects of having a best inflatable hot tub in our backyard, but hate the idea of maintaining one, buying an inflatable hot tub is probably worth it. While you may find that there come pros and cons to owning one, you aren’t left with a huge hole in your pocket or the aggravation of keeping up something you only use a handful of times.

In the end, choose something that you feel would fit best in your home and in your budget. This is still an investment, and while it’s not too expensive, it still is something that one should research before you take the plunge (pardon the pun) and buy.
